Senior Citizen Care

Introduction

Respecting and caring for the elderly has always been a core value of Indian tradition. At NLF, we are committed to supporting senior citizens from underprivileged families, especially those who are isolated, widowed, disabled, or neglected. Our programs aim to restore dignity, health, and happiness in their golden years.

Health & Medical Services

1. Regular medical check-ups, treatments, and referrals for senior citizens.
2. Special support for diabetic patients and eye operations.
3. Distribution of medicines and preventive care to improve well-being.
4. Mobile medical programs to reach elderly people in rural and remote villages.
Recreational & Cultural Support

1. Organizing cultural programs, music, dance, games, and sports for the elderly.
2. Arranging tours and pilgrimages to bring joy and a sense of community.
3. Promoting activities for and by older persons to keep them active and engaged.
Elderly Self-Help Groups (SHGs)

1. Formation of elderly clubs with 10–20 members per village.
2. SHGs assist members in accessing pensions, travel concessions, medical benefits, tax relief, and savings schemes.
3. Local volunteers and SHG leaders help ensure social security and care for the aged.
Counselling & Awareness

1. Counselling services to address emotional, physical, and social challenges of senior citizens.
2. Awareness programs, meetings, and cultural shows to sensitize communities on elderly rights and responsibilities.

Volunteer Involvement

  • Time-devoting volunteers monitor elderly clubs and provide personal care.
  • Fundraising volunteers mobilize resources for medicines, cultural events, and medical support.
  • Quarterly review meetings are held to evaluate progress and plan for the year ahead.

Future Vision

NLF is taking steps to establish a Home for Senior Citizens, where the aged will receive not only shelter but also medical, emotional, and social support in a safe and respectful environment.
